Test Description and clinical significance

Disease:
Differentiation between lobular and ductal neoplasms of the breast, Diffuse type gastric adenocarcinoma, and Plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma

E-cadherin is a transmembrane protein involved in cellular adhesion and polarity maintenance
E-cadherin is expressed in almost all epithelial cells
Loss of E-cadherin expression is associated with gain of tumor cell motility and invasiveness

Collection:
FFPE/un-stained slides/Fresh tissue in formalin

Stability:
Room temperature

Unacceptable Conditions:
Unlabeled specimen/specimen left unfixed
for extended periods
