Hematopathology Bone Marrow Collection Kit
Available Kit Components:
- 2 slide holders
- 2 AffirmSeal jars
- 10 Slides with beveled edge
- 1 Biohazard bag size (8” x 10”)
- 1 Ice gel pack
- 2 Green top tubes (12mg sodium heparin)
- 2 Purple top tubes (7.2mg K2 EDTA)

- 1 FedEx Clinical Pak with FedEx label

Instructions
Step 1.Lavender tube optional for peripheral blood.
Step 2.> 2mL marrow aspirate. A small volume of concentrated aspirate is preferable to a larger volume of hemodiluted one.
Step 3. Air dried smears are highly desirable but not mandatory.
Step 4. Place Core and clot biopsies in separate formalin containers (screw cap till it snaps)
Step 5. Place specimens in foam insert, cover with absorbent materials & seal ziploc bag
Step 6. Include requisition, billing info, CBC, EMR notes and medical records.
